Went to an interesting talk re Church vs State and took home a different
point (that it is the buying off of the religious communities.) Point
being, politics can stand money being tapped off for certain religions
and not others more easily than a religion can have any purpose left if
it is funded by a government. Faith without works becomes real if that
faith cannot stand against the hand that feeds it. As we see in other
countries- the owner of the rule book for God's will, used to determine
validity, controls the law. But also the state religion cannot hold
light to justice and fairness in the law, becoming moot.
