at farmer's markets and flea markets. Unfortunately the din of constant
advertising has people looking for flavorless canola, corn, ye-e-ch,
peanut oil in the supermarkets so I would hate to try to wedge in there.
Yes, you can grow olives in the sem--tropical deep South, though the
flat terrain is not as olive-tree hospitable as the south-facing slopes
to the Mediterranean found in Greece, and the Mediterranean tempers the
heat of adjacent land better than does the Pacific Ocean. Olives are
commercially grown in California, and are economically successful,
though labor costs here are much higher than around the Mediterranean.
