African Violets for Everyone
Wednesday, October 26, 6:30-8:30pm at CCE-Tompkins Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca African Violets are one of the few house plants that flower well at
home and are easy to grow. This workshop with Professor Tom Weiler
will cover the range of varieties available, culture, propagation,
grooming, repotting, insects/diseases, and sources for plants. Fee:

Compost with Confidence: Winter Composting
Saturday, October 29, 10:00-11:00am at the Compost Demonstration site, Ithaca Community Gardens at the
entrance to the Ithaca Farmers' Market FREE! Master Composter volunteers from Cornell Cooperative Extension
of Tompkins County provide information & hands-on demonstrations on
how to set-up and manage a successful composting system. Each class
covers composting basics in addition to rotating topics. This
session also addresses how to extend the composting season into the cold
months and preparations needed to successfully compost over the winter.

Fall Worm Composting Class Saturday November 5, 10:00am-12:00pm at CCE-Tompkins Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca Vote for worms! at this election day "vermicomposting"
workshop! Learn all you need to know to set up and maintain a worm
composting bin. Everyone leaves with a starter bin and worms. Children
are welcome with an accompanying adult. Fee: $10/family (sliding scale).

Forcing Spring Bulbs for Winter Bloom
Thursday November 10, 6:30-8:30pm CCE-Tompkins Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca NY Learn how easy it is to "force" hardy spring bulbs to bloom
and have flowers in your home in winter. Patricia Curran, CCE
Horticulture Educator, will demonstrate how to pot up hardy bulbs such as
crocus, hyacinths and daffodils, and discuss the care they need to flower
well. Class participants each will take home 2 pots planted with
bulbs to force at home. Fee: $18/person; preregistration &
