W:(AL K:NAP at the beginning of Daniel 9:27c is in the construct state and literally means "on a wing of." Among the translations of these words I have seen are
"in its place" ("in its place a desolating abomination comes..." [Lexham English Bible]) and "upon the wing [i.e., of the temple]" (upon the wing [of the temple] shall be an Abomination-Apalling" [Montgomery's commentary on the book of Daniel]). I would like to know what semantic and grammatical justification, if any, there is for these two renderings of W:(AL K:NAP. Leonard Jayawardena |
