Well, since I apologized in advance… So you are familiar with use of gershaim for acronyms and gematria. The fact is that both Bruryah and Pere know of using them for roots as well. I didn't say that it was universal. But there are different conventions used in different circles. Jastrow doesn't do it nor does Segal. It's not even done in my three volume Modern Hebrew Dictionary. When I lived in Israel, I never saw it. So, Yigal, you're assumptions about my study were incorrect. It may be the tradition in Jewish circles, but it is not universal even there.
