Hang on, Y, the silent shewa (שווא נח) is the shewa that represents the non-vowel under the final consonant of a closed syllable, if I'm not mistaken. How, then, can you find it under an initial consonant, under which a voiced shewa (שווא נע) is always found, at any rate in the Hebrew Bible? Ok, I except the silent shewas in שתי and שתים, but these are, I have always understood, unique in this respect. Please explain! ---------------------------------- ان صاحب حياة هانئة لا يدونها انما يحياها He who has a comfortable life doesn't write about it - he lives it ----------------------------------
