Isaac, why do you say that the Bible lacks illustrations? What about this one? http://catholic-resources.org/Dore/Images/OT-021-med.jpg Isn't it part of the MT? Yigal Levin From: b-hebrew-bounces AT lists.ibiblio.org [mailto:b-hebrew-bounces AT lists.ibiblio.org] On Behalf Of Isaac Fried It is the variant of סלם, צלם, שלם, תלם SLM, CLM, $LM, TLM, 'tall and massive'. From this root are the words SULAM, 'ladder?', CELEM, 'form, body', $ALOM, 'wholesomeness, soundness', and TELEM, 'ridge, farrow'. See Ps. 65:11(10). All we may say about SULAM is that it is a lofty and massive structure or contraption (ladder, staircase, ramp, basket elevator ––– the bible unfortunately lacks illustrations) by which to convey vertically.
