The Ungulates piece confirms the testimony of ancient Egyptians and others
quoted by Waterhouse as to the true conditionof the Levant, and the Southern
Levant in particular in the Bronze Age. The Egyptians complained that the
Southern Levantwas a land of dense forests and "troubled by water"...the
presence of Hippos would seem to confirm this.
If you wish I can direct you to authoritative articles on the discovery of
Bronze Age Nile Perch in the southern Levant. Thesefish grew to a length of 6
feet and weighed 440 pounds. Their presence has come as a shock to the
scientific community. What is certain is that old notions of the the
southern Levant of Abraham's time looking as it does today needs to be
completelydiscarded. Theories borne of this outdated notion need to also be
discarded. Man, the Romans in particular, destroyed the Levantthrough
deforestation.
