It is not clear to me how the pointers of the HB could be both
"Masoretes" and have done it by "hearing"? And where did they "hear"
this "doubling"? on the streets of Tiberias? And if so, was this
"doubling" possibly confined to just one back alley of this great city?
Present day Hebrew speakers are also "Masoretes" of "sharp ears", yet
they double nothing. Indeed, why should they?
