Notice that the final kaf doesn't have a dagesh, hence it's "soft" rather
than "hard." That
means the syllable preceding it is open, not closed, and the sheva under the
second bet is
vocal, it's not a silent one closing the syllable. This will always be the
case before that
particular pronominal suffix, if memory serves me.
