A few additional observations:
<<
the bottom historical line for B-Greek is the time of Jesus, but there
is no bottom historical line for B-Hebrew, and even most simple
linguistic inquiries about it lead us sometimes to reflect on
questions which are certainly not linguistic.
This is relatively correct--B-Greek also includes discussions of
extra-biblical texts, Septuagint Greek, etc. However, these also have a
generally workable time period. The major difference is that B-Greek
moderators have definitions regarding the types of posts that are not
permitted.
I suspect they would also take some sort of action if there were repeated
infractions of those guidelines.
What has been harmful to the atmosphere on this list, imho, are posts which
seem to poke fun at various methods of scholarship and insinuate that one
person's method is the only way to do scholarship. It should be obvious that
we will encounter a wide variety of perspectives on this list. But what is
the consequence for baiting someone or for speaking in a completely
disrespectful way regarding someone else's point of view? What I would not
like to see happen is the rest of the group stop posting because they don't
feel comfortable. We all lose out in that scenario.
