I would recommend you look this up in the Anchor Bible Dictionary.
Note that HALOT gives you a long list of references at #2. You might
want to try to look these up too. HALOT's conclusion that it is made
of metal may be based on the Biblical references only. But again,
a first place to look would be the ABD.
