There are good indications that by the turn of the era when the New Testament
was written, Koine Greek did indeed have a /v/ sound for BETA and a /dh/
sound for DELTA - a phenomenon which has persisted into Modern Greek today.
However, in earlier Classical Greek, these sounds probably weren't around.
