Ron,
You might want to check out Seow's commentary on Ecclesiastes in the Anchor
Bible Commentary. He suggests that it is derived from a different root
referring to boxes or chests which would have contained kingly treasures.

With respect to the Hebrew noun SHIDDAH, which is only used in this
verse, has anyone seen any other usage outside the Bible that would
suggest that it is not derived from the masculine noun SHADH, for breast?
