I'm sure it's already been mentioned in previous threads, but isn't it
the case that ביום BYWM in this instance is synonymous with כאשר K)$R,
meaning "when" as a subordinate conjunction?
כי ביום אכלך ממנו מות תמות
KY BYWM )KLK MMNW MWT TMWT
for on the day of your eating of it, you will die (= "surely die" =
"be liable unto death")
I just figured that this was the same as
כי כאשר תאכל ממנו מות תמות
KY K)$R T)KL MMNW MWT TMWT
for when you shall eat of it, you will die (&c.)
I think this is demonstrated by the construct chain of YWM with the
infinitive construct )KLK [ʔaxɔl.'xa]. Agree? Disagree?
