Subject: [b-hebrew] Proverbs 19:18 - let not thy soul spare for his crying

The AV translates the last stich of Prov. 19:18 "let not thy soul spare for
his crying."
Can someone provide me the basis for this translation? I know the marginal
reading offers as an alternative to "for his crying" - "to his destruction:
or, to cause him to die," which is what all modern translations say.
The LXX does not read this way, and I can't find any commentary that
explains the basis for the AV translating W:)EL-H:AMIYTOW as "for his
crying."
Any help would be appreciated.
