Karl, in Geneses 9:2-4, G-d only told Noah that from now on he could
eat meat. There are no instructions of what animals the Torah would
permit to be eaten, and certainly there is no mention of how to
slaughter them. As I noted previously, though, Noah knew Torah, for
he knew which were the kosher (clean) animals, of which he took 7 of
each into the ark, as opposed to only 2 of each of the others.

Shoshanna:
Deuteronomy 12:21 is a good example of what I
meant about cross references.
Starting with Noah in Genesis 9:2-4, God gave
instructions on how to kill and eat animals. Therefore,
Deuteronomy 12:21 merely refers back to what has
been already commanded without repeating all of
them. Oral law is not necessary because of the
previous body of law.
