My references were intended to be exhaustive for the noun XANUKKAH, which does seem to be used mostly in religious contexts - although the dedication of the wall in Nehemiah 12:27 was not of a specifically religious structure, but its dedication was a religious event. But they did not cover the verb XNK, which is indeed used of an ordinary family house, although maybe the dedication in view was some kind of religious ceremony....[Steve Miller] Correction, I misused Peter's refs. They weren't meant to be
exhaustive. The word "dedicated" does refer to someone's personal house in
Deut 20:5.
