A few weeks ago, Yigal Levin pointed out another example of hataph
patah. It seems to be a regular form of that word:

Also, note that "hataph kamats" is much more frequent and appears
many times outside of gutturals.
So such a rule that only gutturals can have composite schwas must
be a generalization.
