The JPS TeNaKh has an interesting way of dealing withInteresting. But this certainly puts paid to Shoshanna's idea that "the entire Jewish tradition" holds to the future interpretation.
Exodus 3:14. In the actual translation, EHYEH ASHER
EHYEH appears with a footnote (a) that states:
Meaning of the Heb uncertain; variously translated: “I
Am That I Am”; “I Am Who I Am”; “I Will Be What I Will
Be”; etc.
For the second EHYEH (Ehyeh sent me to you), the
footnote (b) reads:
Others “I Am” or “I Will Be”.
