Hi b-hebrew
There is a discussion about Zechariah 6:13 ,
**and he shall be a priest upon his throne** KJB
A difference, sometimes, between Christian versions, and Jewish versions..
==============
As to the prepositional subject of the phrase.. is it the same "he" as
earlier in the verses ?
(grammatically and/or contextually)
And there is also a question between "seated/upon" or "before"
And there is a tense question too, though most have "shall be"...

King James Bible
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying,
Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;
and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple
of the LORD:
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory,
and shall sit and rule upon his throne; **and he shall be a priest upon
his throne**:
and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Christian translations tend to be close to the KJB, NAS, AS, NKJB
========================================================
The Jewish translations often have it quite differently..
using "there" instead of "he"
and sometimes having "before" instead of "upon/on/seated"
** and there shall be a priest before his throne ** Soncino
** and there shall be a high priest on his throne, ** Targum
translation by Samson Levey
** And there shall be a priest seated on his throne ** JPS -1985
(footnote. LXX reads "on his right side")
** And there shall be a priest before his throne ** JPS -1917

The three most literal translations I know ... Green, Emphasized, Young
Youngs 6:13
And hath been a priest on His throne ..
Emphaiszed
And shall become a priest upon his throne,
Jay Green Interlinear
And shall be a priest upon his throne
The lack of a preposition seems to match the KJB a little
closer than the Jewish versions, are they more literal?
.. but also grammatically more awkward, in the sense of harmonizing with
"and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. ?

All assistance appreciated..

Soncino (Jewish) .. similar is JPS
And speak to him, saying, Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying,
Behold the man whose name is the Branch (Zemach);
and he shall grow up from his place, and he shall build the temple of the
Lord;
He shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory,
and shall sit and rule upon his throne; **and there shall be a priest
before his throne**;
and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
========================================================================
Aramaic Targum .. translation by Samson Levey to English
Say unto him:
"Thus says the Lord of Hosts saying:
Behold the man whose name is 'The Messiah'
He is destined to be revealed and to be anointed, and he shall build the
Temple of the Lord
He shall build the Temple of the Lord, and he will bear the radiance,
and shall sit and rule upon his throne,
** and there shall be a high priest on his throne,**
and there shall be a counsel of peace between the two of them.
