Don't forget that the Barathot are "apocryphal"
Mishnas not included in R. Judah Nasi's original edition but included later in
the Talmud. Which means that they too predate the editing of the
Mishna.
One possible reason for theirnot being included may
be that they present divergent opinions not accepted by R. Judah.
Case in point: the Baraitha I mentioned in Baba
Bathra 14b, which not only gibes a different order of the books of the Tanakh,
but also does not ascribe the composition of the entire Torah to Moses. (The
last 8 verses are ascribed to Joshua, for obvious reasons).
