by Philip Davies. Dever responds with "Save Us from Postmodern Malarkey."
By the
way, Dever mentions your book, "The Israelites in History and Tradition."
Surprisingly (?) Dever comes down rather hard on the revisionists. His
conclusion,
after a long and fascinating article:
"Ancient Israel is a fact. That this historical Israel does not correspond
in all
details with the 'ideal theological Israel' portrayed in the Hebrew Bible is
true. In
the end, however, that is irrelevant." -- BAR, March/April 2000, page 68.
