I believe, actually I know, you are incorrect.
The Qur'an(ultimate authority on the roots of Arabic language) uses
phrases like "liqawmikuma bimisra" and "min misra", which uses the
spelling "Meem, Suad, Ra" with a fatha vowel after the 'Ra' which
elongates the ra into a 'Rah' sound.
