Certainly does. Then Adonis has semitic roots because the transliteration of
ADON ("lord") into
Greek would fit perfectly the spelling of Adonis. Thus, the -is ending is
simply a Greek nominative
ending.
Has anyone ever considered any possibility other than semitic roots for
Adonis?
