I was added to this list about a week or so ago - and I have been
overwhelmed by the people and messages here. This is an extraordinarily
powerful medium, with great scholastic presentation, and careful analysis
of Ivrit(Hebrew). I just wanted to thank everyone for being so mature,
intelligent, and thoughtful in their posts. Although I am not as advanced
in the study of ha-TNKH and the exact grammar of Hebrew language as some
of you, I am learning as much as I can with your help and studying your
debates and conversations.
I have some questions, perhaps too simplistic for some of you?, that I'd
like to hear your opinions on.
1 - Is 'El' really the prefix for the Israelite God or is it, as I have
heard and read, the name of some ancient Babylonian Deity? What are its
origins?
2 - What are some of the powers or associations that can be made with
RUACH QADESH?
3 - Since Hebrew is part of the Shemetic set of languages that sprang from
ancient Aramaic, among Arabic, Syretic Arabic, Archaic Hebrew, Amharic,
etc. - can it still be considered a "pure" language in the Shemetic sense,
being that it has greatly mixed in with Yiddish/Ashkenazi language?
4 - What do you think of the concept of Hebrew being so sacred a language
it cannot be spoken unless in deep prayer to (YHWH - YaHuWaH UL)?
I realise that these are all not Bible-related, per se, but I think they
are still somehow interesting questions.
