I think you'll find that that is what Davidson/McFadyen call /Daghesh
Forte Euphonica/. Daghesh Forte is always preceded by a vowel. As you
note, this could be the open vowel of the preceeding word or prefix.

Or without maqqeph, `@&iYTh@ ZZoWTh thou hast done this.
A common example with Shin is ZeH-$$:MoW, "This is his name".
