Dear members,
Is it the case (in the case of the strong verb, 3rd masc.)
that the prefixform is derived from y + suffixform?
This suspicision is based on the fact that
the prefix forms of quttal, hoqtal, hitqattel are simply
ye+quttal, ye+hoqtal, ye+hitqattel (where e in ye is shewa).
The prefix forms of qittel and hiqtil seem to have a pattern:
ye+qittel -> ye+qattel
ye+hiqtil -> ye+haqtil -> yaqtil
The remaining verbforms are qatal and niqtal. According to the
above observation, they should have been transformed as
follows:
ye+qatal -> ....->yiqtol.
ye+niqtal -> ....> yi+neqatel -> yiqqatel.
But I do not understand it. Could you explain it to me?
Shalom,
Moon
