Subject: bible and freedom to read week

i don't know how many of you celebrate freedom to read week. in any
case, it is always a time for me to reflect on censorship and the text
i study. historically, the bible in one's own language has been one of
the biggies on the banned list. people have fought and died for the
right to read it. it is a time to remember them.
it is also a time to remember that many people are still prevented
from reading the scriptures in their own language. to the extent that
SIL and similar groups promote this goal, i applaud and support them.
let us always remember how lucky we really are, how many freedoms we
enjoy, and to make sure we never lose them. let us also remember there
are few crimes worse than burning books, except maybe not reading them
in the first place.
