Hi all,

Happy New Year!!!! Check out what WXYC has planned for this first week of 2016:

Tonight's Inside Track at 9pm will feature Big GRRRL Small World by rapper Lizzo. The fast-paced, carefully-crafted rap and heart-rending, haunting singing makes for a dynamic and powerful release, driven by politics and emotions.

Tune in to tonight’s New Science Experience, 10pm to midnight, for some local pride as we play recent releases from electronic artists from around the Triangle.

Tune in to Broken Music this Sunday at 2pm to hear a selection of recordings from the Japanese improvisational duo Hasegawa-Shizuo. Comprised of multi-instrumentalists Hirotomo Hasegawa and Shizuo Uchida, the duo has spent the last decade creating a sound chock full of electronic bursts, rambling percussion, and longform drones that both entice and isolate the listener. Check out this week's show to hear excerpts from their large catalog of recordings.

This week on the Backyard BBQ, your boy is back in town! Join host Kabir KH in going local with music by nearby artists this Sunday from 8 to 9pm.

Tune in Sunday from 9 to 10 pm for the first installment of On-Air Confessions of 2016! Thanks to New Year’s, there are plenty of confessions out there, and we can't wait to hear them all! Call in the request line to confess on air or tweet at us if you feel it too!

And Monday’s Outside Track will feature Don't Look Back by Massachusetts composer Jenny Olivia Johnson. Each track is a musical narrative told by different individuals, with the central topic of adolescent trauma. Heavy-hearted stuff, but really fascinating in its execution. Catch it at 9pm.
