You may be on Spring Break but WXYC never stops! Let’s check out #SB2K14 here at XYC…

Get your jollies from Friday's Inside Track at 9:00 pm sharp! Give Love To Your Children was Zambian group Musi-O-Tunya’s second album, pressed in 1975 in Nairobi. Musi-O-Tunya's music described the era’s troubles and also negotiated with them, extolling the virtues of family and community life, making a very joyful noise that drew musical inspiration from the likes of James Brown, Jimi Hendrix and Fela Kuti. Like Round-Up for your winter doldrums.

On tonight's New Science Experience -- WXYC's beat-oriented specialty show -- WXYC DJ Robert W is spinning a dark and moody set serving post-midterms and freezing rain vibes from 10pm to 11pm. Then be sure to not to miss an exclusive live set of CONTAINER playing his signature gnarled-up and rough-around-the-edges techno recorded at Nightlight early February, going on 'til midnight.

Tune in this Sunday at 1pm to listen to an hour-long retrospective of the music of the late, great songwriter David Ackles on Hell Or How Water. Though he recorded four critically-acclaimed LPs between 1968 and 1972 and worked with folks like Al Kooper, Julie Driscoll, Bernie Maupin and members of The Band, Ackles' blend of folk, country, rock and vaudeville garnered no commercial success and he retired from making music in 1973. On this week's show we will hear excerpts of all four records, focusing especially on Ackles' interest in marrying country sounds with operatic orchestration.

This Sunday's Broken Music will feature new and recent recordings from the Parisian electroacoustic composer Francois Bonnet, whom has been delving into the realm of musique concrete under his alias Kassel Jaeger since the mid 2000s. Bolstering Jaeger's compositional credentials is his long-time occupation as a sound engineer at the famous Groupe De Recherches Musicales (GRM) studio, arguably the most important modern composition studio in the world. Listen from 2 to 3pmfor excerpts from at least five of Jaeger's (mostly) limited-edition works.

Classes will be canceled; offices will be closed beginning at 9 pm Monday, March 10. CONDITION OUTSIDE TRACK. Tune in to hear the new LP from the Chicago Underground Duo: Locus. Composed of Rob Mazurek (cornet, synth, game boy, electronics, bamboo flute, voice) and Chad Taylor (drums, mbira, guitar, and balaphone) this duo stirs a dark & stormy pot of synthy grooves, Ghana big band, glitchy EDM atmospherics. & MORE.

Join Ryan, Bradley and Sam for Sports Rap this Sunday at 9p to hear about the Carolina-Duke basketball game. We will also discuss the Heels' match up against the Blue Devils, and of course the men's basketball team's regular season finale in Durham. Don't miss us preview the ACC Tournament: Will Carolina play Duke again? Also, what's with NBA teams wearing t-shirts? Is Al Jefferson the best player on Earth right now? Are the 76ers the worst thing to happen to sports since they ended SlamBall? Who hates children's laughter more, Boeheim or Krzyzewski?

Tune in Wednesday night at 9PM for the return of the Global Music Show.  This month listen in for A Transcultural Genre: The History and Roots of Salsa Music Across Latin Communities. Find out how Salsa music is an example of how a genre of music can defy geographical, ethnic and cultural borders to encompass various Latin communities everywhere, from Cuba to the United States.  Hosted by Juan Alamo, assistant professor, Department of Music and DJ Sarah H, this should be an interesting and education evening program for the midweek grind.
