Ah, August.  Classes begin full force once more on campus, people begin to talk about the sport "football," the existential terror of July begins to fade, and WXYC continues its fun and exciting programming:

Throw away your children tonight at 9 pm, when the Inside Track presents Sondra Sun-Odeon's solo debut, "Aetherea." Sun-Odeon is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and member of the psych-folk outfit Silver Summit. What better way to reflect upon the particular afflictions of body and soul which are most likely to assail us under the sign of the Dog Star than to listen to her ethereal plangent folk songs? Collaborators include Helena Espvall of Espers and Ben McConnell of Beach House.

Start off Sunday at 10am with the Orange County Special, our weekly specialty show featuring the finest folk, traditional and neo-traditional music the station has to offer.

This week on Hell Or High Water, Gina B will be playing the 1997 release "Shake the Devil Off" by Dorothy Norwood.  Norwood is a gospel singer and songwriter from Atlanta who has been performing since the 1940s.  This live album, recorded in a Rochester, NY church, features a mix of traditional gospel songs and original compositions.  Tune in for a super upbeat and religious start to your Sunday afternoon!

Settle down at 2pm with Broken Music for an exploration of all-female artists featuring the powerful, devastatingly beautiful drones and churning electronic improvisations of women such as Vanessa Rosetto, Maja Ratke and Hild Sofie Tafjord of Spunk, and Helena Gough. Challenging the notion of sugar, spice and everything nice,  Kat K will arrange an hour of sonic deconstruction to showcase the impressive presence of female artists in the world of experimental and avant-garde music.

Harrison is out of town, but The Backyard Barbeque is still on.  Join DJ Lincoln for an hour of the hottest local cuts from the hottest local bands.  Tune in Sunday at 9 PM.

Tune in to Sports Rap this Sunday to hear Reilly F, Sarah H, and friends talk about sports: previewing the fast-approaching college football season.  UNC, the ACC, and the NCAA landscape will all be on the menu.  Come prepared to call-in, tweet-at (@dunksbutts), and facebook-on to get in in the conversation!

This week's Outside Track will be Jo Ha Kyu again.

Nah, tune in on Monday night at 9 pm to hear Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage. The world premiere of the infinitary computer animation NUR and the accompanying infinitary computer sound composition SOLITON(E) STAR were given in NYC in 2005 for the celebration of La Monte Young's 70th birthday. Catherine Christer Hennix has now extended this installation in the tradition of the pentatonic blues for a live-electronic ensemble. Endless expanses.
