BAUHAUS SPIN-OFF on the Thursday night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m to midnight
This week, WXYC DJs Tom Horan, Pat Johnson, and Jennifer Betowt will be playing three hours of music by various Bauhaus spin-off projects including Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets, Dali's Car, Jazz Butcher, Sinister Ducks, and solo material by Peter Murphy, David J, and Daniel Ash.

HARRY MILLER'S ISIPINGO- WHICH WAY NOW on the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
Brit-Jazz bassist Harry Miller's group Isipingo includes six of the greatest of Britain's jazzers of the mid 70's: Nick Evans-trombone, Mongezi Feza-trumpet, Harry Miller-double bass, Louis Moholo-drums, Mike Osborne-alto sax and Keith Tippett-piano. Which Way Now features over 70 minutes of music from a beautifully recorded radio concert from November 20, 1975. As Isipingo only released one album in their lifetime, this new release dramatically extends their legacy and birngs this important, hugely enjoyable, nearly-forgotten music to a new audience.

MOHAMMED 'JIMMY' MOHAMMED- TAKKABEL! on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
Appearing on Ethiopiques 2, Jimmy is a phenomenal blind singer that specializes in the songs of Tlahoun Gessesse, the greatest singer of Ethiopia. 'Takkabel!' is his first full length CD, recorded ast year while in Europe for the Moers Jazz Festival. Earlier that year, he was also invited to play at the 25 year party for the punk band Ex, members of which are also featured on some performances on this disc. Jimmy is accompanied by Mesele Asmamaw on the krar, a 5-string harp, and by Asnake Gebreyes on the traditional drums. They are often accompanied by Dutch jazzdrummer Han Bennik, who also plays a star-role on the CD.

DEALING WITH THE DEVIL on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
This week on HOHW we are inspired by the Devil's day of 6/6/06 to look at devilish imagery in blues music. Blues has been called "The Devil's Music" and Lonnie Johnson sings "the blues is like the devil, it comes on you like a spell." Peetie Wheatstraw dubbed himself the High Sheriff From Hell and the Devil's Son-In-Law. According to legend (or fact?), Tommy Johnson and Robert Johnson both sold their souls to Satan in exchange for their prowess in playing the guitar. we willfeature songs by these artists as well as Bessie Smith, Washboard Sam, Merline "The Yas Yas Girl" Johnson, and Black Spider Dumpling.
