OKAPI - WHERE'S THE BEEF? on the Inside Track, Friday, 9 p.m.
Filippo Paolini, aka Okapi, is a Rome-based turntablist and electronic producer, who -- on this debut release -- tears through the lighter side of plunder-phonics and IDM, much like his friend the Rip Off Artist, whose own Inflatabl Labl released "Where's The Beef?" Though Okapi's worked with more serious artists in the field, like Crhistian Marclay, here he keeps everything light, crisp, and happy.
UNCLE DAVE MACON on Hell or High Water, Sunday, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
This week's show will feature Uncle Dave Macon (1870-1952), old-time banjo player extraordinaire and mainstay of the original Grand Ole Opry. The set will focus on his early career, from 1924-1930.
OF MONTREAL - THE SUNLANDIC TWINS on the Inside Track, Monday, 9 p.m.
In their latest release, Of Montreal and frontman Kevin Barnes create a host of pristine and novel pop gems, much like last year's much-revered "Satanic Panic in the Attic." Though more overdone and operatic than the lighter Satanic Panic, this new disc still does an excellent job of showcasing Barnes' knack for pure catchiness.
