SPECS ONE - RETURN OF THE ARTIST on the Inside Track, Wednesday, 9 p.m.
In what might be the oddest fitting release from Sun City Girls' Alan Bishop's Abduction label, we find ourselves faced with a collection of classic Northwest jams from producer/MC Specs One, who was one of the biggest forces in the underground Seattle hip-hop scene of the mid-90s. Before this discography, his music could only be found on mix tapes and ultra-rare 12-inches, and was relatively unknown outside of Washington.

WOMEN IN HIP-HOP on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday, 9 p.m. to midnight
Tune in as we explore feminine contributions to the genre.

BANG ON A CAN - BANG ON A CAN MEETS KYAW KYAW NAING on the Inside Track, Friday, 9 p.m.
NYC avant-hipsters offer a new collaboration with Burmese outfit Kyaw Kyaw
Naing. Dynamic and forceful percussion that delights the ear, a fireworks display of lightning-fast drumming. One of many successful collaborations/tributes for Bang on a Can, who have also experimented with the music of Terry Riley and Phillip Glass.

LOUISE MASSEY on Hell or High Water, Sunday, 1 to 2 p.m.
Born on a Texas ranch in 1908 and raised riding horses in New Mexico, "original rhinestone cowgirl" Louise Massey can legitimately lay claim to the singing cowgirl moniker, unlike other popular female vocalists of the day. Performing as the Massey Family with her siblings, husband/composer Milt Mabie, and her fiddle-playing father, Massey's glamorous cowgirl image quickly made her a star and earned the group stints on popular radio shows like The National Barn Dance. Hear Louise perform solo, with the Massey Family, and as Louise Massey & The Westerners on this week's show.

ARCH HALL JR. - WILD GUITAR! on the Inside Track, Monday, 9 p.m.
Norton Records gives us the collected works of surf/garage guitarist Arch Hall, who from the mid-50s to the early-60s starred in and recorded the soundtracks to over a dozen films, including "Wild Guitar" and "The Sadist." This quirky collection features over 30 of Hall's best cuts with his group the Archers as well as many tasty soundclips from his films.
