Monday, 9 p.m.-midnight: 15 YEARS OF MERGE ON WXYC

THE GUITAR MAN on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m.
This week on Hell or High Water, a tribute to "The Guitar Man," Mr. Jerry
Reed. Tune in on Sunday as we trace his career from his Rockabilly roots
to his tenure as a coveted Nashville session guitarist and his solo
ventures as a country musician who was unafraid to dabble in rock, pop,
and cajun styles as well. Perhaps best known for his acting career
(having starred next to his good friend Burt Reynolds throughout the
1970s), he continued to record well into the 1980s, achieving his biggest
hit with "East Bound and Down," theme song to the "Smokey and the Bandit"
film trilogy. So give a listen this Sunday to hear all your Jerry Reed
favorites performed by the man himself and other country and rock legends,
from Elvis, to Johnny Cash, and maybe even Moe Tucker.

RAZZLE on the Backyard BBQ, Sunday 8 p.m.
Join us as we welcome members of local rockers Razzle, who are sadly
calling it a day after their farewell show Friday, July 30 at Go! Studios
(openers will be Roxotica and Natasha). Their mighty dual-guitar
harmonies steeped in vintage Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden, mammoth drumming
and soaring falsetto vocals have accounted for many memorable shows in the
Triangle over the past four years. As a keepsake, they have a new
full-length cd on Pox World Empire, "All Those Wasted (Y)ears," which will
be available at the show. Tune in to hear selections off of the album and
Razzle shoot the breeze.

15 YEARS OF MERGE ON WXYC, Monday 9 p.m.-midnight
Tune in for a special feature marking 15 years of Merge Records.
Superstars from the Chapel Hill label will be in the studio to spin
records and discuss history. Later in the week, starting on Thursday, July
29, there will be concerts all around Chapel Hill; check the Merge website
