DJ OLIVE, "Bodega" on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
Debut full-length release from Brooklyn illbient and "roof music" scene
fixture and member of We, DJ OLIVE. It's a quick-paced continuous mix
soaked in the hazy dub that was one of We's trademarks, and also touching
on Latin disco, ethnic strings, blunted dancehall rhythms and jeep-rockin'
bass. Out on The Agriculture.

ELLIOTT SMITH RETROSPECTIVE on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9
p.m.-midnight
Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter ELLIOTT SMITH's life came to a
premature end on October 21, 2003 and this Thursday we will take a look at
his storied solo career as well as his work as a member of the Portland,
Oregon rock act, Heatmiser. During his too-brief musical career, Elliott
released five solo albums and was nominated for an Academy Award for his
musical contribution, "Miss Misery," for the film "Good Will Hunting."

ROCKABILLY WOMEN on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m.-2 p.m.
An hour's worth of music from some of the most rockin' women of the '50s
and '60s, including Barbara Pittman, Wanda Jackson, Janis Martin, Linda
Gail Lewis and others. A fusion of country music and rhythm & blues,
rockabilly paved the way for rock and roll and inspired many country
musicians to experiment with a new, wilder style. Some part of a natural
evolution in country music, others deliberately groomed by music producers
looking for the female Elvis, these trailblazing women burst onto a
predominantly male scene with their raucous, powerful music and displayed
an exuberance and defiance extraordinary for their time.

Also this week and every week:
-ORANGE COUNTY SPECIAL: traditional and neo-traditional music of the
world, Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
-BROKEN MUSIC: longer, more "difficult" pieces, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
