Schedule in brief, scroll down for details:
Wednesday 9 p.m.: REBECCA PEARCY, “Constellation” on the Inside Track
Friday 9 p.m.: JEL, “10 Seconds” on the Inside Track
Sunday 2-3 p.m.: PHARAOH SANDERS, “Karma” on the Classic Inside Track
Monday 9 p.m.: YOUNGSBOWER, “Relayer” on the Inside Track

REBECCA PEARCY, “Constellation” on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
Yo Yo Records artist Rebecca Pearcy's second solo effort is a convincing
exploration of her roots in folk and rock music, and a capable followup
to her critically acclaimed "Sea Deep Sky High". In addition to her
music career, Olympia denizen Pearcy has made a name for herself as head
designer of Queen Bee Creations, a retro accessories brand. A witty
songwriter, with a strong, pleasant voice, Pearcy's self-confident
eloquence and obvious musicianship make this album a compelling listen.

JEL, “10 Seconds” on the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
Master of the SP1200, Anticon member Jel's (Jeffrey Logan) production
aesthetic has been described as creating an "appropriately madhouse
atmosphere" on albums. Indeed, the gelatinous swirling aura of
Jel's 10 Seconds will capture the listener in dirty, grimy, yet
streetsmart and naturally psychedelic beats. A perfect album if you
want an introduction to the Anticon.

PHARAOH SANDERS, “Karma” on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
Pharoah Sanders's “Karma” is one of the most seminal and distinctive
free jazz albums of 1960s, although it only has two songs. Of
particular note is the first track, "The Creator Has a Master Plan,"
which pairs Sanders and his band with jazz vocalist Leon Thomas.
Thomas comes in about 9 minutes into the song, joining Sanders's
saxophone in a fit of sonic dischord that doesn’t let up until the
onset of sudden silence that marks the beginning of the last portion of
the track. All in all, this is arguably some of Sanders’s (and
Thomas’s) best work.

YOUNGSBOWER, “Relayer” on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
Youngsbower is the shorthand for Richard Youngs and Matthew Bower, two
fixtures of the UK noise underground for over a decade; Youngs has been
heard most prevalently on the song-oriented May and Making Paper albums
on Jagjaguwar, Bower is a former member of Skullflower and records/has
recorded solo as Total and Sunroof!. This, their second meeting in a duo
configuration for the VHF label, is a radiant selection of instrumental
textures, warm enough to melt any specter of snow that dares loom over
our local forecast (figuratively at least).
