NAME YOU LIKE A HURRICANE on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday
9 p.m.-midnight
Recent Doppler forecasts predict that the Triangle will be consumed by
two full hurricane seasons this Thursday. Take cover, but bring a
radio, because meteorologist Jessica will guide you through the alphabet
two times over, from Hurricane Allison (which is currently gathering
force in the Gulf of Costello) to Hurricane Ziggy Stardust (currently a
Tropical Storm, but expected to rise to full hurricane status when it
makes landfall at Bowie Beach). Prepare yourself for heavy rains,
strong winds, and lots of songs with people's names in them.

THE TWO DOLLAR PISTOLS on the Orange County Special, Sunday 10 a.m.-1
p.m.
This week on the Orange County Special, we welcome two very special
musical guests: John Howie, Jr. and Scott McCall, of the Two Dollar
Pistols. They will be chatting with us and performing for us, between
12 and 1 p.m. Check out the Pistols website at
http://www.twodollarpistols.net and their new album, "You Ruined
Everything!", and check out this special live acoustic performance on
OCS! (Remember that we change from Daylight Savings to Standard time
this Sunday.)

CHARLIE HADEN, "Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra" on the
Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
Charlie Haden became known as one of the founding fathers of free jazz
as a member of one of saxophonist Ornette Coleman's trios in the early
1960s. One of his most fascinating works, "Charlie Haden's Liberation
Music Orchestra," was one of his first releases after branching from
Coleman. Released in 1970, this powerful protest album straddles and
merges the lines between jazz, folk, and world music to deal with
historic events like the Spanish Civil War in addition to current events
of its day such as the war in Vietnam and the life of Che Guevera. The
Orchestra is made up of many big names of jazz, notably Carla Bley, Don
Cherry, Dewey Redman, Andrew Cyrille, and others.

JESSE HELMS RETIREMENT ROAST on Northern Hemisphere Live, Sunday 5-7 pm.
Jesse Helms will soon step down from 30 years in the Senate, and to
mark the occasion, we will host a panel discussion to remember the
bigot from Monroe whose crusade in Washington against diversity and
democracy will soon be coming to a close. Join us by calling in with
your favorite Jesse anecdote or quote, and help spread the word about
the Jesse Helms Retirement Party at the Cat's Cradle on Monday 10/28!
For more info on the party, check out www.internationalistbooks.org.
