On-air interview with JUAN FLORES, professor at Hunter College and scholar
of Puerto Rican and Cultural Studies. His new book is called "From Bomba
to Hip Hop: Puerto Rican Culture and Latino Identity."

WXYCs NATHAN McCLINTOCK presents on Afro-Cuban influences on the West
African rumba orchestras of the 60s in room 2519 of the UNC-CH student
union addition.

LISA BROCK, writer of a book "Between Race and Empire: African-Americans
and Cubans Before the Cuban Revolution" and recent article called
"Reflections on Cuba: History, Memory, Race, and Solidarity."
ANTHONY MACIAS, researcher specializing in Chicano and Latino Culture,
Popular Culture, and Urban History whose forthcoming article "Rock con
Razz: Latinos, African Americans, and Popular American Music in Los
Angeles, 1940-1965," will appear in the collection "Musical Migrations:
Transnationalism and Cultural Hybridity in Latina/o America."
MARIA DeGUZMAN, asst. professor of English at UNC-CH who studies the
constuction of ethnicity in literature and compares Anglo, Latina/o,
Spanish and African American culture through photography, film, and
performance.
