SUTEKH, “Incest – Live” on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
San Francisco's Seth Horvitz (aka Sutekh) has, along with fellow West
Coasters like Kit Clayton and Safety Scissors, situated himself at the
vanguard of American laptop music-making. With this new full-length on
the similarly standard-setting 'minimal techno' imprint Force Inc., he
explores the possibilities of crafting a dance-oriented yet
sophisticated electronic album in real-time.

JAPAN on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
With their painted faces and quirky Asiatic sound, Japan were like no
other band of the late seventies. But when the New Romantic movement
arrived a few years later, they suddenly found themselves elevated from
cult status to superstardom and imitated by the likes of Duran Duran,
Gary Numan, and Soft Cell. It was an unwanted transition which yielded
their finest work and their unexpected demise. Please join us this
Thursday night, the 3rd of October, from 9pm until midnight for a look
back at Japan featuring album cuts, out-of-print singles, b-sides, and
live material. From the post-Roxy Music ambiance of their early
recordings to their collaborations with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yuka Fuji
to their sudden reappearance a decade later under the name Rain Tree
Crow, all facets of Japan's career will be explored for your enjoyment.

T. TEXAS TYLER, “Unadulterated Country Songs” on the Inside Track,
Friday 9 p.m.
Legendary, if overlooked, country singer T. Texas Tyler cut his teeth
releasing a whole slew of singles on the Los Angeles label Four Star
throughout the '40s, sides which ran the gamut of orchestrated western
swing, country boogie, hillbilly balladry, and his trademark spoken
narratives. As his stock rose, national labels like King began
re-releasing these sides with added echo and overdubbed instrumentation.
The German label Cattle Compact has reissued two volumes of the raw,
'unadulterated' Four Star material, one of which will be heard here.

HENRY THREADGILL SEXTET, “Just the Facts and Pass the Bucket” on the
Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
Alto saxophonist and composer Henry Threadgill's 1983 septet (the name
of his group was an intentional misnomer) date for the About Time label
was a high-water mark on the transitional early '80s jazz landscape, at
a time when more traditional approaches to arranging began to co-exist
with new conceptions of ensemble instrumentation and the individual
roles assigned them. Threadgill is accompanied by Olu Dara (cornet),
Craig Harris (trombone), Diedre Murray (cello), Fred Hopkins (bass),
John Betsch (percussion), and Pheeroan akLaff (percussion).

Discussing Domestic Violence Awareness Month with LISA GARMON on
Northern Hemisphere Live, Sunday 5-7 pm.
Topics for discussion will include: What is domestic violence? What are
red flags for women in relationships? How does the community see and
respond to domestic violence? What are some myths and misperceptions
about domestic violence? We will also talk about community resources
for survivors/victims; personal accounts from survivors; and
legislation, the legal system and law enforcement. Guests will include
Jane Allen Wilson, Amy Holloway, Elizabeth Irvin, Valda Exum, Joshua
Dean, Beth Froehling, and others. Listeners are encouraged to call in
to participate in the discussion.

BLACK DICE, “Beaches and Canyons” on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
A tranquil, serene album of shimmery, sparkly psychedelia by this
Brooklyn outfit, sure to please everyone fortunate enough to hear it.
