SLAVIC SOUL PARTY!, "In Makedonija" on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
Slavic Soul Party plays ecstatic old-school music inspired by ensembles
from Macedonia and beyond. These young improvisers add fuel to the fire
with their downtown rapport -- SSP! is downtown's answer to Balkan party
music. On Knitting Factory Records.

MISSION OF BURMA on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
Even though they were only together for four years, Mission of Burma stand
as one of America's most important post-punk groups. Fierce, intelligent
and infectious, their music has influenced countless bands and continues
to win over new fans today. Join us as we present three hours of Burma
classics, covers, and side projects, with live tapes from 1982 and 2002.

FRIDGE, "Eph" on the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
Temporary Residence records has reissued British
post-rock/experiemental/electronic trio Fridge's 1999 third full-length
LP. Fridge guitarist Kieran Hebden also records as Four Tet and Joshua
Falken.

BEACH MUSIC on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1-2 p.m.
This week, Hell or High Water will get you ready for some summertime fun
with an exploration of the roots and branches of "Beach Music," the party
music of the Atlantic Seaboard (especially the Southern half of it) as it
developed in the 1960s. We'll hear high-energy pop and soul in the vein of
Motown, including both regional stars and national acts. were played
locally.

THE SLEEPER, "Painless Nights" on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3
p.m.
One of Jello Biafra's favorite albums, The Sleeper's 1981 LP "Painless
Nights," will be the featured recording on this week's show. A now
out-of-print remnant of the Bay Area's neo-psychedelic, post-punk scene,
"Painless Nights"
exerted a tremendous influence on the darker purveyors of alternative rock
music in the '80s and '90s.

SCANDAL IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH on Northern Hemisphere Live, Sunday 5-7
p.m.
This week's show will be a discussion of the recent scandal in the
Catholic church. Issues to be examined include: How well have the Vatican
and domestic ecclesiastic authorities handled the situation? What short
term and
long term remedies are appropriate? How do Catholics feel about their
faith and their church in light of the recent turmoil? Listeners are
invited to call in and participate.

MEMPHIS on the Backyard Barbeque, Sunday 7-8 p.m.
Alt-country/honky-tonk blues/all-American rockers Memphis will be hangin'
out, shootin' the breeze, maybe playing some tunes live in the studio on
this Sunday's Backyard BBQ. They might bring some revealing insight on
what it was like to be the band playing between the Smithereens and Molly
Hatchet at a recent, local BBQ festival, too!

TIMOTHY PRUDHOMME, "With the Hole Dug" on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
Tim Prudhomme of Fuck presents his first solo album. Smells Like Records
promises that it will be "a lavish extravagance of starkness; of notes,
noize, and specialty knobs." Prudhomme offers a unique take on the
traditional singer-songwriter album.
