GRATEFUL DEAD LIVE on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
This Thursday Night Feature spotlights one of the greatest live bands in
the history of rock n roll -- the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead was
active throughout four decades and this TNF will offer a wide variety of
live Dead tunes and concert dates. Throughout the program, we will focus
on the inspired jamming, improvisation and playing that has deeply
touched the millions of Dead fans around the world. This TNF should be a
treat for all fans of raw, energetic live performances (Deadhead and
non-Deadhead alike).

An interview with FREEDY JOHNSTON, Friday 3-4 p.m.
One of the brightest singer/songwriters to emerge in the 1990s stops by
the WXYC studio for a live chat. Johnston has been earning acclaim since
his 1990 debut; his most recent album, "Right Between the Promises," was
released this summer. Hosts Ashley, Eric and Sam will give you an inside
look at Johnston's life and a taste of his work. Johnston performs at
Go! Studios in Carrboro on Friday night.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE'S "LOVELESS" on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3
p.m.
This week's Classic Inside Track commemorates the tenth anniversary of My
Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" compliments of Eric C. Leading figures of
the shoegazer movement that dominated Britain's indie rock scene in the
late '80s and early '90s, MBV crafted gorgeous melodies from raw white
noise directly inspiring such artists as Mogwai, The Verve, Primal Scream,
Yo La Tengo and J. Mascis, and indirectly influencing just about everyone
else.

A discussion of SPIRITUALITY on Northern Hemisphere Live, Sunday 5-7 p.m.
This week, NHL will address the question of whether admitted spirituality
negatively affects a person's credibilty in an academic environment, or
otherwise has adverse effects on one's profession. Listeners are invited
to call in and participate.

Friday, 9 p.m.
