Friends in Los Alamos have been walking a long distance pilgrim trail
in Europe, to a shrine in Spain. There is a Wikipedia article about
the pilgrimage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Way_of_St._James
Today in the Los Alamos Monitor (newspaper) is a short article about
my friends' walk:

There is an equestrian travel adventure book about riding 1600 km of
this pilgrimage, called "Riding the Milky Way". Maybe a good holiday
read? http://www.horsetravelbooks.com/europe2.htm#milkyway
Stories of long rides like these help me envision how glorious New
Mexico's own long distance trails could be, someday.
