Has anyone had issues with the Flash Player v9 plugin with Firefox? For some
bizarre reason even if I have it installed, newer websites complain that
they "Need Flash 8 or later" yet with Seamonkey I have no issues viewing

Obviously there's a bug here somewhere, but is it in our setup? I suspect
it's upstream.

I suspect you're right, I have a manual install of firefox 2.0.0.2
here (dl'd binary pkg before ff2 hit test and never got around to
switching back) and get the same thing, flash just works better in
seamonkey. Comparing about:plugins of firefox/seamonkey I notice that
ff is finding 2 versions of flash, 7.0 r25 and 9.0 r31, where
seamonkey only finds 9.0 r31. Turns out I have 6 instances of
libflashplayer.so on my HDD:

/home/sqweek/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/home/sqweek/pkg/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/opera/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/seamonkey/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/local/lib/flash/libflashplayer.so

All of these are identical *except* for
/home/sqweek/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so. So I'm about to get
rid of it and see if it's some legacy firefox thingy going on, then
I'll send this mail...
Bingo. Shoved that into my home dir, reran firefox, no more flash 7,
everything works.
