Hi,

i would like to state my perspective for discussion.
About me: I am using SMGL for setting up servers at work (if they let me) and
i write spells for missing software.

this is why i am using SMGL:
- it aims for administrators
- it is source based (yes, for me that is an argument by itself)
- it makes cloning of workstations reasonable simple.
- it aims for simplicity, for example compare rc scripts of red hat, gentoo
and SMGL.
- Community integration is high (compared to sorcerer)
- SMGL features are great: "cast --fix", installwatch, sources separated from
spells, dependencies, ...

this is where development could be done:
- Less interaction during cast.
- Stability: Sometimes "sorcery update" is not good. There should be a time
efficient way to be aware of problems before they happen.
- Cross compilation support.
- Easy iso creation including some sources for custom distro generation.
- There should be more complete and consistent documentation, especially for
new users.

I think marketing is worth some effort and for me the theory of users growing
up to developers holds so we need more users. But please keep targetting
admins, i am willing to sacrifice convenience for flexibility.
