These permaculture pamphlets, which are in the public domain, pre-date the design manual. They are based on a transcription of a design course taught by Bill Mollison in New Hampshire in 1981 and are in the public domain with his consent. Public domain they may be freely downloaded, copied, and distributed.

Regardless of your view on copyright what this really points to is
more energy being directed toward open source / public domain
permaculture resources compiled collectively & made readily available.
That's especially a call out to folks that feel information should be
free to create a community around the free distribution of
user-generated information. Buying overpriced books or having a title
for a couple weeks from the library are not the only options.
