It is the same everywhere and in virtually every vestige of what was once
the American dream.now become "the system". Sung to the tune of the sixties
in the lyrics of MONSTER. How ironic that the very ones most vocal in the
sixties on campuses everywhere are now among the greatest beneficiaries. The
wife and I watched FOOD Inc. the other day on video and were ever more
disgusted. But, was there truly anything shocking or new. NO! If anything,
at almost 60 now, having been a photographer during the era of the HUGE
campus riots and having received that letter so long ago from Kevin Mark
Frye's father saying he had died in Nam fighting for his country, I feel
strongly that my real virginity was lost during the past few years as I have
witnessed the selling out at every level and in virtually every institution,
in the name of greed, corruption, influence peddling, and power politics
pulling the strings as all pursue the almighty dollar. while that dollar too
is being sold out. There WILL come a day of retribution. as a world wherein
there is no justification for anyone, anywhere being homeless, hungry or
without the basic needs of life, where our soil, water, and air are
increasingly and deliberately polluted is too sold out.and I am not a
screaming liberal or tree-hugger. However, with the technology available to
us today to resolve these issues, we rather serve the world influence of the
mega-corporation, mega-governments, and mega-billionaires driven by more for
the sake of more.and THIS encroaches itself at every level and virtually
every aspect of our institutions as the masses walk in mindless lockstep,
oblivious to the inevitable outcome. Used to be the idea of doing the
research and the studies to discover the facts, but today the studies, the
research, the corporations, the land grant colleges, et. al. all too often
are driven to verify the needs dictated by the grants, the funding, and the
corporate, union, government needs. Damn the soil, the air, the water.follow
the money. When the populous becomes a problem, reduce the populous. When
the will of the people creates an obstacle, remove the ability of the people
to resist. Where a leader becomes an issue, that too can change. Sounds
crazy doesn't it? It is? How often in our world history have we witnessed
such movements drive nations to the inevitable? We here can find every
reason to attack and negate the same issues month after month, year after
year, but are there any with the foresight to demand solutions and drive
toward their implementation? We have seen the effects of dust bowls. We have
witnessed the loss of topsoils and humates in some of the world's greatest
farmlands. Every year we demand more and more and more of crops depleting
our soils even when those very crops are ill-used. Every day the methane is
pumped out and the waste mountains grow. Is sustainability REALLY sustaining
the cash and influence stream. I don't even want to hear about programs
that affect a few thousand people at best. What is being done on a truly
national scale in every single state and county to significantly employ the
waste stream as an asset or to STOP the legalized selling out and despoiling
of our land, sea, and air? How many megatons of topsoil, humates, tilth has
been created in every county? Rather than criticizing and counting angels on
pin tops, what is the truth of our environmental, agricultural and waste
system?
