GET WILD!

(Plants in your edible garden)
Introduction to Permaculture & Planting with Native Plants Workshop
8:30am -12pm with instruction ending at 5pm Saturday the 18th of November.

Permaculture: 1) The practice of a low labour, low weeding, no pesticide, no
Chemical fertilizer, no till agriculture emphasising perennial, shrub and tree
species. 2) The art and science of designing and maintaining a permanent
agricultureal system based on renewable resources.

LEARN ABOUT PERMACULTURE WITH PETER LIGHT:
-the many definitions of permaculture
-the techniques you can use in your garden
-a quick tour of the permaculture design principles
-how to mulch, when to mulch, why mulch, about mulch

LEARN ABOUT NATIVE PLANTS WITH MISHTU BANNERJI:
-At least the top 10 most useful and edible native plants names.
-Identification, culture and seed propagation techniques.
-the ecological preferences of native edible plants
-what is "stratification" & "scarification"?

EXPERIENCE:
-an example of permaculture problem solving
-preparing seeds by stratification for spring sowing
-preparing seeds by scarification for spring sowing

GET:
-Seeds
-Hand outs for your notes
-Contacts Lists (after the event)

MEET & NETWORK WITH:
-Instructor & Consultant of Permaculture: Peter Light
-Instructor & Consultant in Seed Propagation: Mishtu Bannerji
-Memebers of the Vancouver Permaculture Nework
-People we interests like you: Growing native edible plants in your
backyard.


SEED AND PRODUCE EXCHANGE: 5:00pm- 6:00pm ($2 if you come just for this)
-Seeds: Swap 'em
-Bring Produce: sell or swap it
-Plants: pot them and sell/swap them

VEGETARIAN POTLUCK DINNER: 6:00pm-8:00pm ($2 if you come just for this)
-Bring all your utensils!
-VERY limited cooking facilities.

MUSIC AND DANCE: 8:00-12:00pm
-(Barefoot Boogie: no shoes, no booze, no smoking)
-Bring your kids. Bring your musical instrument, drum, and music
/sheets/cd's/tapes.
