This is cool news.

I've heard Terence Malick was working on a script for Percy's The Moviegoer at one point.  I've wanted to ask Malick what happened/why he dropped it, but I'm not famous so there's that.

In my opinion, someone should make a film (or short series) based on Lost in the Cosmos. The film would consist of a series of vignettes and culminate in a space odyssey (or two!).

My view is that great literature doesn't necessarily make for great cinema.
Great literature, and I assume we all agree that Percy was in some sense a
great, exists in its own modality.
For it to be transposed into another modality, is aesthetically redundant
to the original work.
It is often said, however, that "second rate" literature is best suited to
cinematic adaptation. There is much to be said for this view.
But I have often thought that *if* there were one novel that could
plausibly be adapted to the screen, it would *Thanatos*.
Leaving the philosophical dimension aside, I recall it worked
brilliantly as a pure thriller. I felt my heart rate increasing with the
dramatic tension.
But again, this would only be a superficial perspective on the novel,
though in competent hands, it could jibe with the current and prevailing
medicalization of the population in our time.

Regards,

Leslie Marsh.
